Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to distinguish conceptual metaphors in literature of the poems under study based on gender. In fact, cognitive sociolinguistics is the basis of the present research, and main research question is: What is achievement of rethinking the classification of conceptual metaphors with cognitive approach, based on the analysis of data available in these poems? The results of the study show that conceptual domains of object-oriented and anthropocentric, respectively, had the highest frequency in the metaphors of poets of both groups. This indicates that the two concepts of human and object are among the most prominent in the minds of women and men. This prominence is greater in the minds of women than in men. Although in both groups, the conceptual domain of anthropocentrism is in second place, mappings in the conceptual domain of origin based on anthropocentrism in the metaphors of women's poetry differ significantly from its frequency in the metaphors of men's poetry.
