The present study is aimed at studying the role and placement of suffix /-ü / in determiner phrase in Lari a branch of the Southwestern Iranian languages that has been identified as an endangered language by the UNESCO Atlas of Languages in Danger. The data were collected by field method and analyzed by descriptive-analytical method. The results show that the obligatory presence of the suffix /-ü/ not only in some singular definite NPs but also in some singular indefinite NPs is a sign of specificity, based on Karimi (1999, 2003), and the suffix /-ü/ appears in the place of the lower core of DP according to Larsen (1988). The research considers the morphological characteristic of the /-ü/ as a reason to justify the movement and merging of noun with DP. Moreover, this study shows that we can generalize the model of shell characteristic of VPs to other phrases like DP.
