In the past, written literature represented the discourse of the ruling authorities, where the common people were considered the "Other" and marginalized. Women, in addition to this, were subjected to gender-based othering. This study, using a descriptive-analytical method and critical discourse analysis, seeks to examine the dominant discourse of superiority and patriarchy in the women's couplets of the general population in Fars Province. The statistical population includes 1,233 couplets, with a sample of 262 couplets (selected based on the gender of the poets) from the book “Fars Local Songs” (Homayouni, 1999), chosen for its comprehensiveness and scholarly credibility up to the time of this research.
The data show that women, through composing feminine couplets, have expressed their protest against the domina hegemonic ideology, superior power structures, and patriarchy, and have created the space for a process of othering as a form of resistance to assert their human and gender identity.
