Hermeneutic ciphers and their role in police-criminal narratives

Abstract

Using the descriptive-analytical method and relying on the hermeneutic code of Barth's five codes, the present study has read the novel Sin like Sudaba by Kaveh Mirabbasi to show what the main and focused break of this narrative is based on. What are its formulations? The results of the research indicate that: the main and central break in the narrative (riddle) is the loss of Sudabah. Due to the equal position of the reader and the fictional characters at the beginning of the narrative, the state of shock, and then due to the discovery of signs and the superiority of the reader's position compared to the fictional characters, the state of suspense and finally, the reason why the plot and the link that the sign establishes with the metatext of the Shahnameh, creates the main mystery of the story.
