Abstract

The present study examined the effect of self-management and relationship management variables on attitude toward learning a second language (English) among female high school students in the city of Ilam. The research method was both applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-analytical. The population included all 400 female high school students in Ilam, who were selected through random sampling. The standard emotional intelligence questionnaire of Travis Bradbury and Jane Graves (2004) was used to measure the independent variable of emotional intelligence. To measure attitude towards learning a second language (English) as the dependent variable, the 21-item questionnaire of language learning by Tadayoni (2006) were used. Then, SPSS software version 22 was used for data analysis. The results showed a positive and meaningful relationship between the self-management component and attitude toward second language learning and also between the relationship management variable and attitude toward second language learning in female students.
