Abstract

Analyzing the language of contemporary literary works is essential for uncovering the hidden ideologies and power structures within the text's underlying layers. In this study, we have examined and analyzed the novel "Mysteries of My Land" by Reza Baraheni using critical discourse analysis (CDA) based on Van Leeuwen's approach (2008). The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the main components of exclusion and inclusion and their subcomponents in this novel. The research method is descriptive-analytical, and we have employed quantitative methods for counting the socio-semantic components and analyzing the data. The findings of the study indicate that each of the socio-semantic components and their subcomponents have been utilized in the novel, and their frequency and percentage have been presented in the analysis section. For instance, the level of secrecy in this novel is 49%, indicating that the degree of explicitness is higher than the level of secrecy and ambiguity.
