Using folk literary texts in teaching Persian language to non-native speakers based on the text-based approach

Abstract

Folk stories are one of the most suitable formats for teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers. The aim of the research is to use popular literature in teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers based on the text-based approach. The theoretical framework of the research is a combination of 3 theories of Vygotsky's approximate growth zone (1987), Krashan's comprehensible input hypothesis (1985) and Camborne's learning factors (1995). The practical framework is Lazar's (1993) three-stage cycle in teaching literary texts. For this purpose, 10 textbooks have been prepared from various literary texts with the theme of popular literature. The method of collecting information was in the form of a questionnaire. The questionnaire items were selected from Cunningsworth, Mikli and Teacher made. The reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated based on the model of Fornell and Larker (1981). The validity of the questionnaire was also calculated based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results of the research showed that contemporary texts that contain folk concepts have about 90% influence on language learners, in contrast to old folk texts, they have about 70% influence in the education process.
